What Happened To The Level Editor?

When I created this game, I thought it would be great to make it so people can create their own levels. What I didn't realize was how difficult it is for people to figure out how to make levels that are both interesting and challenging. Since I designed the game myself, it was pretty easy for me to figure out how to make a challenging level, but I've found that for every person who makes interesting levels, there's five others who just haven't figured it out.

Unfortunately, I have to review each level, because if I post uninteresting levels, people won't want to play, which would make the game pointless.

On top of the difficulty with creating challenging levels, I'm also facing the following issues:

  1. It's clear that most people aren't reading the guidelines for creating good levels.
  2. Some people are creating multiple user accounts in order to bypass my time restriction, which means they're submitting multiple levels for me to review before they've even found out why the level they've already submitted is no good.
  3. Some people are getting friends to pass the "test" on their behalf, which means people who haven't even mastered the game themselves are trying to create levels.
  4. Believe it or not, I've actually had people resubmit a level after I've rejected it, without changing ANYTHING!
For those of you who are following directions, and using the system properly, my apologies to you, but I hope you understand why I need to shut this system down. I simply don't have time to waste on people who won't read/follow directions.

Right now I'm very busy working on the Fifteen Minute Anthology at Fifteen Minutes Of Fiction, but I will try, from time to time, to create new levels myself.

And perhaps, sometime in the next few months I will figure out a better way of monitoring this system so I can re-open the level editor.

If you want to receive notice when the editor gets re-opened, send an email to dtwitchell@virtu-software.com. I'll send you a notice when the editor is open for business again.

In the meantime, have fun solving the existing levels!

Douglas Twitchell
