Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Douglas on January 2, 2016
"I got thinking that the city of Bethlehem must have had quite a case of "after Christmas blues" - after the excitement, the shepherds went back to the shepherding, people returned home after the census...

And then what? Had anything changed?"

Bethlehem after Christmas

O little town of Bethlehem, with "After Christmas" blues,
For in the morning light we doubt that wondrous shepherd news
We see the foreign soldiers who march throughout the town
And there's no change, for Caesar wears the cruel Roman crown.

A baby takes so long to grow into a kingly man,
And still there is no peace on earth, or tiny Bethlehem;
How long must we await thee, to come in power and might
For now we wait, and hope and pray through earth's unending night.
