The Treasure Hunt at The Problem Site

Welcome To The Treasure Hunt

Welcome to The Treasure Hunt at The Problem Site. Like everything else at this site, you're going to need your wits about you to find the treasure. And who knows, you may actually learn something along the way! So put on your thinking cap, get your brain in gear, and set your train of thought in motion down the tracks.

And please don't assume you will solve this puzzle in one session; you'll probably be coming back to this page several times over the next few days/weeks as your brain makes intuitive leaps to solve the puzzles. In fact, you might want to take a moment to bookmark this page so you'll be able to find it again.

The Treasure Hunt was designed for older students and adults. By request of many elementary school teachers, there is now a treasure hunt designed for children! Click here to visit The Pirate's Map!

You are allowed to jump around the site, trying to solve puzzles in any order you choose. When you've solved them all, visit the X Marks The Spot page to submit all your answers.

By the way, I need to warn you; the pages look different to everyone who joins the hunt. So don't bother trying to get your friends to give you the answers, because you'll get it wrong, and you might even get the Black Spot Of Death!

And goodness knows we don't want that, do we? Something like that can just ruin your entire day.

But never fear - I won't really give you the Black Spot Of Death - I'll just give you the Turquoise Spot of Terrible Disappointment, which is actually only terribly disappointing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; the rest of the week it's just a source of frustration. Yeah.

You're probably wondering what's in it for you...and that's a good question. Why would you embark on an insanely foolish adventure, plumbing the depths of my devious imagination, unless you get something at the end for all of your work?

Well, goodness matey, isn't it enough just to have the satisfaction of a job well done? Do you really need anything else?

Alright, alright. Fine. I'll tell you what. You might win something at the end. After all, sometimes the treasure chest isn't empty. Sometimes there really is something valuable behind door number three. And sometimes you win.

But don't get too excited...I can guarantee the prize won't be very big...if you aren't interested in doing this Treasure Hunt for the simple pleasure of solving some interesting riddles...don't bother!

This pirate doesn't want to listen to you complaining that you didn't win a prize, or that you did win a prize, but it wasn't "good enough"! What do you expect from a FREE SITE?? :)

Some people will win a prize. The question is, will you be one of the lucky ones? And speaking of luck, I'll tell you this much...those who have an understanding of probability will have a better chance of winning the prize...

So consider that to be your very first clue...no! Wait! I'm sorry...that was your second clue! So now it's time for you to Join The Quest, so you can begin your Treasure Hunt. Remember, once you log in, the pages are customized just for you...your own personal treasure map.

I hope you enjoy it.

Good luck,
Douglas Twitchell
