Mathematically planning your school year
Lesson Plans > GeneralMathematically planning your school year
Have you ever felt daunted at the beginning of the school year by the enormous amount of work that must be covered in your subject before the end of the year?
Save yourself the stress and staunching of your creative juices before you begin the school year. Count up the number of weeks of effective class time you expect to have. Remember to allow for sports
days, field trips, and other interruptions cutting into your own class time.
Calculate mathematically the number of pages/chapters/topics needing to be covered in the time available. This cold blooded mathematical method prevents awkward half taught lessons in the rush to finish the work in the last few weeks of the school year.
It saves becoming bogged down in areas which are either
uninteresting or too interesting, and it also forms the basis of curriculum goals and outcomes expected by School Board, parents and students.
