Life and Death

Who do you save?

I was just wondering what if i face a situation one day in which you and all your close ones are in danger and you are given a chance to save just one. Who will that be?

The answer will definitely vary from person to person but there is one thing common to all! What will this decision be based upon. The first thing which comes to my mind is that I'll save the person who is most important in my life. Whose death will be a huge loss to me. But there isn't just one person who fits the category. So then what to do?

Then I thought to go about this logically (I don't think so I would be able to do this if I actually face such a situation). So I started to list the factors for taking the decision. Should it be the youngest person among them? Should it be the person who has always faced difficulties and nothing good came out of his life? Should he be given the chance or Should it be the successful person who has done very well in life and will probably do great further?

Should it be the person who loves you the most? In other words should it be the person who would have chosen you if in the same situation? Or should it be the one who spreads the most smiles around? A person who has done a lot of sacrifices for you or someone whose life depends on you?

After a lot of thinking i decided I'll leave it to chance. Toss a coin, maybe or anything similar and chose one randomly. But I realized whatever way I choose somebody there will always be regrets in my head for the rest of my life. I would never be able to sleep peacefully without the phantoms of the ones I lost coming in my dreams.

I hope, I never face such situation or for that matter anybody ever face such a situation.
