Time Nearly Stops
One day, when I was 12 years old, I decided to take my mothers car for a joy ride. I was mad at her for something that happened the day before. That morning I took the keyes from her purse and drove off in a '78 Chrystler(my god what a boat). Shortly after leaving I approached a 4-way intersection where I had the red light to stop. Somehow I had slipped into a deep daydream (as I usually do) and wasnt paying attention to the road ahead of me. I came back to reality the moment I crossed into the intersection. At this moment, time seemed to nearly stop. Another vehicle was crossing into the intersection from my left. I saw the man driving the pickup truck. I saw his eyes as they slowly turned to meet mine. A shattered look came across his face - the look of a man that was about to meet his end. Time seemed to return to normal as I quickly jerked the wheel to the right sending the car into a sideways slide. As the car skidded sideways time slowed considerably again. I watched nervously as the car inched closer and closer to the mans pickup. It finally stopped resting just inches from the side of the truck.
