"When it comes to rejection, both the one being rejected and the one rejecting, I believe, can be pitied. One feels sorrow that another's hopes are crushed, and one feels sorrow for the one who must crush the hopes of another. Deflating someone is not fun to do. "
Rejection
You ask me with your eyes, and I look away. You ask me with your smileand I laugh it off. You ask me with words--only then I can't hide, can't pretend to miss your subtle hints. So now I must answer, but not the way you want. No one likes rejection, and I feel sorry to hurt you. But rejecting is just as hard, and it hurts me to see you hurt. Yet I must injure, though I hate doing so. I cannot say that I care for you, as much as you want that. Please understand.
