Catch Me If You Can!

When I fell,
I fell
Hard.
Down onto the concrete,
No-one caught me.
No-one cared.
Unsteadily I,
Got onto my feet,
Brushed myself down,
Head held high.

I didn't care that he didn't notice,
(I did, I truly, truly did)
I didn't need him.
I was fine.
(Nights spent crying into the pillow)
Who cared about him?
He was a loner!
(Sports star, most popular guy in school…)
I got over him.
No boy was worth,
The tears I was crying.

The second time I fell,
The pain was expected.
The hurt
Numbed.
The tears didn't come.
My heart had hardened.
Raised a protective ice wall
No-one dared to break it down
For fear of the emotions
Ragehurtsadnesspain.

The third time I fell
I was caught.
Everything felt fine,
Everything seemed perfect.

And then,
I was
Dropped.
With an almighty 'crash!'
I fell to the ground.
I didn't bother getting up.
I was just going to fall again.

Little by little,
The pieces were picked up,
By a friend.
Now a lover.
