"Cynthia Villar had disrespected the nurses in the Philippines and too many nurse were furious about it. This is my reaction."

Cynthia Villar versus Filipino Nurses

A brief commentary/response on Cynthia Villar's recent statement about NURSES:

The way she said it, she already lost the vote of millions of Filipino nurses in the upcoming 2013 Senatorial Elections in the Philippines. It was how she degraded the vocation and it affected the emotions of these nurses not only around the Philippines, but the rest of Filipino nurses around the globe. That alone could bring her from being number 5 in the survey to the bottom of all bottoms (in every nurses' hearts). This kind of behaviour is not tolerated. This kind of discrimination has no space in any nurses' ballots. She should have considered the population of nurses as voters. She can now follow the footstep of her husband (who lost the 2010 Philippine Presidential Elections) from now on. These nurses can't be bought, the damage has been done, apologies could mean nothing. You can do whatever to these nurses, but you should never disrespect their vocation, never underestimate their jobs, because for them, nursing is not just a profession, it is their world, their life. They put a lot of faith and patience in this advocacy. They have the skills, the knowledge and the attitude that no Cynthia Villar could ever step on. Bear in mind that these nurse could be a great ally and a very dangerous enemy if they want to.

From an anonymous Facebook status post:

"NURSES are getting yelled at for being late with meds, holding their bladder because they don't have time to use restroom, starving because they missed lunch, being peed on, puked on, pooped on, bled on, and are missing their family while taking care of yours. In the minute it took you to read this, nurses all over the world are saving lives." - Anonymous
