Alphabet Soup - H is for Humphrey

Humphrey was not a large man, round yes but not large. He didn't care much for the way other people thought him to be round. But Humphrey had a dream. His dream came to him one night while walking through a rough part of town. Humphrey was not a large man and sometimes others failed to see his greatness.

The dream required great planning on Humphrey's part. To fulfill a dream one doesn't just dive in, oh no. That would be too dismissive of the dream. So day by day, week by week, Humphrey laid his plans and ordered his world with the dream always before him. "Should I tell others of my dream?" he wondered. "No, best to keep it to myself. Others often don't appreciate the dreams of men who are not large and somewhat round." he reasoned.

Finally, the planning done, the day for execution arrived. For months Humphrey had been dreaming of this day. He dreamed of it while walking to work. He dreamed of it while taking his breaks. He dreamed of it at night in his dreams. All he could see before him was the satisfaction of his dream. And now the time was here. Humphrey was ready.

Humphrey chose his finest suit for the day and his most impressive hat to wear. He wanted to look tip-top for this day. He hadn't told a soul about his dream but now everyone would know. In an instant the not large but somewhat round man would be seen for who he really is. People would no longer dismiss him as insignificant. With one last look in the mirror, Humphrey stepped out into the future as if walking in a dream.
