The Black Pit
The black pit sits low in the base of your gutGetting darker every day
There’s nowhere to turn, nowhere to run
Nothing anyone can say
Emotions build they spiral through
They twist and turn inside
They cut your inner core to shreds
There’s nowhere you can hide
The silver lining on every cloud
Has it ever been there
Has it existed, has it been lost
Does anybody care
Your heart sits heavy in your chest
Like a jagged river rock
A metal chain wraps tightly round
With no key for this lock
You look without seeing, you hear without sound
Words mean nothing at all
Feelings are stagnant, emotions not felt
The bricks are up in the wall
Darkness fades you look up to the sky
Gray clouds are overhead
You close your eyes willing the peace
And ignore the feelings you dread
