I Just Can't

moonlight brought you here one night
just like a quick drive-thru glance
she said 'take him in your arms,
and let him grow in your heart'
but i refused, i just can't
'cause i didn't want to lose.

you're probably the best, they say
but i don't have the tick
nor the tock to let you know

you're a little overdue,
i'm a little impatient.
our pull is rather flawless,
but timing is quite a mess

maybe when autumn leaves fall,
or when the blue jays call,
but the clock says not at all.

and now take what you can have
and leave the rest up to me.
let me have the dream,
and you can keep the reality.
i'll just write about this,
before i forget about you.

you're the only one i want, i know,
but i don't have a moment
to let you know...

love, i just don't have the time
i won't have your time...
