They could do whatever they wanted with the line. it's cool to see the different directions they took. this one's my share. if you want, you can write too! the more the merrier!"

I Woke Up & Saw You Coming Out of a Picture

I woke up and saw you coming out of a picture. I closed my eyes and pretended to be asleep; flicking my fingers to make sure you’re not a mere figment.

Your eyes, still as bright as a day in May, like a beam of light one can't gaze at for too long, but can melt just about anything, including me. Your face, still as soft as the gentle winds.

I opened my eyes and you’re sitting, waiting by my bedside. You stroke my hair and whispered to my ear, “I’m here darling, you’re not dreaming.”

The whispers faded into thin air. You’re gone again. I can never keep you for more than a quick minute. Was it something I didn’t do? Have I lost you?

I need you. Here, just right here.

I sat up and found your pea-coat on the foot of the bed. With it a note, and it read “Darling, I can’t stay. I can never stay. But I love you in immeasurable amounts, in ways no one else could and my heart, only you will ever hold.”

I want to believe you, I do.

You belong in a Polaroid picture, an instant work of art. You are, after all, truly a work of art. You are nothing less than incomparable. But I say you stay there, in a picture, in a 2 dimensional field. Maybe I can’t need you then. And you don’t have to keep telling me you can’t stay. In there, I can always have you. I will always hold you. And you’ll always smile your smile at me.

I woke up and saw you coming out of a picture. A tear made its way to my ear. I can hear you, I always can. But you’re not here and you’re not real anymore.
