A Musical Instrument: A Day in the Life of a Trumpet

A day in the life of a trumpet is probably a hard one. As a trumpet player I would know how it would feel like to be a trumpet. I know how hard it is to make a sweet sound. A nice sound that somebody would love and realize how it is.

My owner sat me on the chair as she got ready to play me. She was getting the folder with the music we were playing. When she picked me up I was in the air.

She held me in her lap as she took out her glasses to see the sheet music laid in front of her. I could tell that she was not prepared to play me. I know she must have been tired from all the hard work she puts in to make me sound nice.

It takes a lot of air to get me to sound right. She has to play a whole bunch of different notes that the teacher asks for. She doesn’t know all of the notes, but she tries as hard as she can to make it sound right. Sometimes she misses the measures she needs to play, but it’s all right. She has another friend that plays the same as me.

My owner pulled out the first piece of music the teacher asked for. The music was called “Night Dances” by Bruce Yurko. She likes the piece. She thinks that it sounds really cool. It has an evil sound to it in my opinion. I don’t know why she likes it so much.

Before I knew it we had started playing. I didn’t want to play for her, but I did. She played all of the right notes to. I was proud that I was the one that had helped her. She played nicely although her air support was not complete.

When class was over she had put me away into the locker and I didn’t know what I was thinking when she had put me in there. I knew it was dark, scary, and closed in. It was scary to be there alone. I wished my owner was with me, but I knew she couldn’t be. She had to go home and she didn’t want to bring me with her.

I just waited until the next day for her to play me. It was the best day when she did. It was dark anymore and I felt whole with her.
