Just A Thought
So many countless numbers of StarsI wonder Do they ever forget which they are?
Do they ever, in looking across that vast Space,
Wish for something more like our own Rat Race?
Will any, in that Expanse which to us knows no End,
Ever think to go out and find him a Friend?
These strange glittering Gems, holding our Hopes,
Bound by our Wishes
And our Dream-spun Ropes
Cold and distant, in looking down
On some faraway peoples’ Town
Full of frantic human Commotion
Do they want some of our Emotion
To light up the Ice Land in which they are gowned?
Do these beautiful Figures, so ancient and proud,
Hovering above us in a haughty Cloud,
Envy us that which they’ll never have,
And feel every Breath of ours as a Stab?
Anguish, yes, and Awareness too.
Longing and Mourning, and Loving that grew.
…
So many countless numbers of Stars
I wonder Do they ever regret what they are?
