Arrival of Fall

Here in California, we don't really have seasons. It's summer for three seasons then slightly less summer for the last one. People will complain if there's frost on the ground in the morning or if it's sprinkling outside, but we have it great here.

There are still hallmarks of the seasons, however. It rains a little more frequently during the fall. One day, you'll realize that you would be more comfortable with a sweatshirt on, but then disregard the notion because going back into the house to get one is far more trouble than it's worth. The wind will pick up and you'll shiver once. Turkeys, pumpkins, cinnamon, and Christmas decorations start popping up everywhere.

But the truest indication that fall has arrived? Reaching into a pile of last night's leaves after a dropped trinket and instead finding a handful of slimy wet leaves.
