"This post is a Grab Bag which was inspired by the following word: hospitalize"

Amnesia

A single light flickered in the corner of the white, sterilized hospital room. The concerned father sat beside his daughter, still out cold like she had been for the past few weeks. The doctors claimed she would never wake up, but the father wasn't giving up.

A doctor glanced inside the room as he walked by, feeling sympathy for the poor man who would probably never see his daughter awake again. He peered inside, asking if the father needed anything. The father always refused.

Hours went by and eventually the father fell alseep. That's when the daughter awoke. Her looks around the room were paniced for she had no recollection of where she was or how she got there. She pulled on the tubes that were stuck into her, trying to escape.

Her struggles awoke her father, who ran to her and began to hug her. She pushed him away. "Who the heck are you?" She shouted at him, her voice hoarse.

"What do you mean? It's me, your father." His heart broke as he saw the confused look on his daughter's face. "Don't you remember me?"

She just shook her head. "I have no idea who you are."

Just then, the doctor walked in, wearing a surprised grin. "You woke up. That's fantastic."

"But she doesn't know who I am." The father spit out.

The doctor only nodded. "With an injury like this, amnesia isn't that surprising." He shook his head, directing a question to the daughter. "Do you even know who you are?"

The daughter thought for a moment, but violently shook her head. "I don't!" She exclaimed, "I don't know who I am! Why don't I know who I am? How did I get here? What happened?" She searched their faces for the answers.

Her father was the one to answer. "You were in a car accident. You've been in a coma for three weeks. We never thought you would wake up." He looked as if he was about to cry. He wanted to say something else, but just shook his head and left the room.

The daughter laid back down and closed her eyes, hoping to pull some memory from the depths of her mind that could sort out all of her confusion.
