Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Trent on September 21, 2007
"Efforts at writing have been few and far between, especially in the fiction genre. I think I will enjoy this site."

Face it

Grizzled and exhausted he sighed sitting down to his coffee. There was nothing to be done about it. It had taken him a week to admit it but he finally had to face reality.

At 2 am, three hours ago, waking up in a cold sweat the resignation was inevitable. No matter how much he hated thinking about it, the only solution was waiting it out.

Patience was not high on Ian's list of virtues. As a matter of fact, Ian's list was really more like a couple, honesty and hard work It was both of these that had embroiled him in this situation.

The smell of the bad instant coffee caused him to remember that he needed a new coffee maker. Sipping from the black mug, his mind, once again, returned to the problem at hand and he opened his laptop.

Making a list of pros and cons seemed like a good idea. Or maybe what he needed was to just brainstorm. Start randomly and see what happens. His work worn finger tips began to make noise across the keypad. This was not going well.

Ian was encouraged though when he looked up and saw that his wait was almost over. One more sip of coffee. One more bad sentence and he would be through.

There, he had done it. He thought this first writing experiment would never end.
