Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by katiedarling- on August 18, 2011

How will we ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering?

The labyrinth, is not life or death. It’s suffering. It’s doing wrong and having wrong things done to you. That’s the problem. It’s the pain, not the living or the dying. How are we supposed to get out of this endless labyrinth of suffering? There is always suffering. It’s universal. Everybody who has ever lost their way in life has felt the nagging insistence of that question. At some point or another we all end up looking up and realising we are lost in a maze. And at times that maze seems endless. But you see, we never get out of the labyrinth until we die. And even then, we don’t know if we are truly out, because what lies beyond death is something we can’t seem to figure out, because the dead cannot be brought back. And the living are too scared to off themselves to actually find out if the suffering ends. The labyrinth is endless, and we may never know the way out of the suffering.
