The Darkness

As Laura opened the door she heard a strange creaking noise from behind her. Turning, she noticed nothing and continued to push the door open. The door was heavier than anything she had ever pushed before and it took a great deal of effort to even move the colossal door an inch.

Pausing for just a minute she leaned against the door and looked out into the darkness behind her. A ripple of shivers went through her body and she quickly spun back around to the door so that she could get out of this prison.

After what seemed to be an hour of pushing and kicking this door open Laura dropped to the floor- tears streaming from her face. The door would just not move.

The creaking sound came again, closer this time and it seemed to moving fast.

Laura felt no motivation to try and escape now. She could not leave this darkness, she could not run away from her nightmares.

Just as she was wiping the an excess amount of tears from her face she heard the voice of her mother behind the door. Laura scrambled for the door handle but could not find it anymore. She was trying to push the door even harder now, just so that she could get to her mother.

Her mother's voice was beginning to fade and the only thing Laura could do was scream for her.

The door was pressing against her, closing away the light, closing away her mother.

By now her fingers were bleeding from scratching at the door.

There was no way she could escape.

The creaking was right behind her. Laura collapsed to the ground terrified. Something grabbed hold of her ankle and in a furry Laura tried to shake it off.

The grasp became tighter and it started to pull her away from the door and into the darkness. Laura screamed and clawed at the ground. Her bloody fingers leaving trails as she was dragged away.

The darkness consumed her-devoured her on the spot. There was nothing anyone could do about it.
